This morning when I woke up to teach (I teach English to children in China online before my kids wake up...more on how that was key in my "awakening" later), I felt drawn to open an e-book on my phone which is a compilation of blogposts. I haven't read it in a while. It's a work in progress for me. Anyway, it is called "The Perfect Day Blog". It has an anonymous LDS author who writes about his journey of faith and scriptural teachings about coming to know the Savior Jesus Christ personally and meeting him Face-to-Face. Moroni talks about this in Ether 12:38-41.
38 And now I, Moroni, bid farewell unto the Gentiles, yea, and also unto my brethren whom I love, until we shall meet before the judgment-seat of Christ, where all men shall know that my garments are not spotted with your blood.
39 And then shall ye know that I have seen Jesus, and that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these things;
40 And only a few have I written, because of my weakness in writing.
41 And now, I would commend you to seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written, that the grace of God the Father, and also the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, which beareth record of them, may be and abide in you forever. Amen.
I will be writing a lot on this topic. It is a beautiful mystery found everywhere in the scriptures. Back to my morning. I opened the e-book and began to read from where I left off.
My digital bookmark was on a post about meditation. This has been a theme for me over the last few months.
President David O. Mckay said this about meditation:
"Meditation is one of the most secret, most sacred doors through which we pass into the presence of the Lord" (Pres. David O. McKay, “Consciousness of God: Supreme Goal of Life,” Improvement Era, June 1967, pp. 80–82).
The intriguing thing to me is that I have felt prompted over the last few years to look into meditation. Several times I had the prompting to google "Christ-Centered Meditation" or "Christ-Centered Yoga". What I found over the years mostly consisted of a reference to a book written by an LDS woman named Pam Blackwell Ph. D. I recognized the cover. It is one of the many books my mom has sitting on her nightstand.
One day when I was home visiting her I read half of it. But it was just a quick introduction.
This last time I felt prompted to seek it out, yet again, has taken me on a journey I could have never imagined. I will dedicate a few (or more) future posts to this journey with meditation.
